Our first ever blog… and an update for you all.
Oh, hi there! Allie here. You might recognise me from my cute teeny tiny picture on the website, from our events, from our peer support sessions… and you’re also going to be hearing from me right here on our Girls Club blog.
If you also didn’t know, I love to talk. So, I think this is a perfect partnership. Our website is new, but the work we’ve been doing and the impact that we’ve made is not!
Since we started in July of 2025, a lot of things have been accomplished. Weekly peer support sessions started it all, followed by other little clubs, followed by a LOT of events, incredible partnerships and collaborations… with so much to do and look forward to in the future.
On the 27th May we had a coffee morning and talked about all the things we’ve been doing since the previous meet up. Let’s run through it, shall we?
We’ve hosted 67 peer support sessions across the borough, supporting women every single week. We are incredibly proud of our sessions and what they bring to the women that need them across Wigan and Leigh. We’ve hosted 16 netball sessions, 8 walk and talks, 4 book club meets (and fab book club coffee mornings), recruited 20 volunteers with 13 brand new peer support facilitators, ran 6 fundraising events (including 3 hikes) to continue our work within the community, hosted 17 kids clubs, 3 pizza and film nights (free pizza, get in!) with so many other wonderful things in-between, including meals out, padel games, paint and sip evenings… the list goes on.
That’s a lot for a few months, right? To us, it isn’t enough. We are so proud of the impact, the work, the changes that we see for the women that come to our events or peer support sessions. Keep your peepers peeled for lots more updates from us.
Here’s to a community for women that is empowered, inclusive, and without judgement. Because this is just the beginning.
With gratitude, Allie x
