A week in the life of The Girls Club Life CIC

Our weeks are always filled with peer support sessions, events and activities… Let’s have a look at this week and all the things that we’ve got going on – spoiler alert, it’s a lot. Just the way we like it.

A week in the life of The Girls Club Life CIC

Tuesdays always kick start the week for us, with two peer support sessions. Our first one starts at 6pm in Leigh, hosted by our wonderful facilitator Fran. This takes place at the Compassion in Action Café. Over in Ashton, we also have our peer support session that starts at 7pm at the Medicentre… you’ll see a few welcoming faces including our facilitators Sarah, Clare, and Lindsey. Join us for supportive and safe environments to talk and find connections. For more information on what peer support sessions are like (because I know it can be daunting entering a new place) see my blog post where I explain (and talk about biscuits a lot) further.

Anything else for Tuesdays? Of course! Clare also hosts our Tuesday evening Netball sessions! These are at Ashton Leisure Centre, 6pm. All player levels welcome (join the Whatsapp to attend) and it’s £5 per person. What a perfect start to the week already.

Wednesday’s have now gotten a whole lot better, with a online peer support sessions every other week. This has been in the works for a while, so that women who can’t attend our sessions in person, can also find support. Leanne is our lovely facilitator, and you’ll be welcomed no matter what time you join. 6:30pm start, with the zoom link being on our website and Facebook event. No matter where you are, I hope you’re able to join. The next one is this Wednesday, 15th July.

Kid’s Club starts our Thursdays off, with our wonderful volunteers ready for you from 10am-12pm at Hindley Library. Toys, books, and themed activities during half terms and holidays (yay!) keep your little ones entertained, and it also gives you a space to connect with other parents. £3 per child.

On Thursday evenings, Jess or Sue host our fourth peer support session of the week in Hindley at Thrive (full addresses for peer support sessions are under our event and session information) and as with all our sessions, no need to book. Just come as you are.

Every other Thursday, we also have our Infertility Peer Support Sessions. The amazing Vicky, Tasha, and Louise host these so that women who are struggling with infertility can come together for support, advice from women with the same experiences and journey, and community. You don’t have to experience it alone. The next one is this Thursday, 16th July, 6pm.

Did someone say… Friday?! The week is flying by, isn’t it? Melissa, our incredible Director and Head of Events, also hosts our afternoon peer support session, 11:30am at the Family Hubs in Hindley. She’s also joined by our facilitators Mandie and Sharon. Join them for a brew and chat.

And to end Fridays… Badminton! Join the girls every week at Ashton Leisure Centre (£4 per session) and join the Whatsapp to attend. Whilst we’re on the subject of Fridays… we also have a monthly pizza and film night. See our events for more details!

Thought we were done? Don’t be daft! We have events and activities on most weekends, but this weekend is a bit of a special one. Why? It’s our first birthday, of course! If you’ve got your ticket for our birthday party this Saturday… just know that we are so excited to celebrate with you. A whole year of TGC… here’s to 50 more.

And of course, our Sundays wouldn’t be complete without a morning game of padel. Every Sunday, 11am, The Cotton Works. £5 per session – ask for the Whatsapp to book on.

And whilst all this is going on… we’ve also got our other amazing groups that are planning their next meet ups and activities. The Girls Book Club, run by our wonderful Khloe, is meeting up on the 23rd July. The Dry-Ish Girls Club, run by yours truly, has two events this month; a meal on the 31st and a walk on the 26th July. Join the Whatsapp community to get involved.

We’ve also got a lot on this month, including a Paint & Chat evening, a trip to Southport, a Crystal Workshop…

But this week? 6 peer support sessions. 3 sports sessions and a kids club. Women coming together, all week long. Behind the scenes, we’re also planning lots more for the weeks (and years!) ahead.

Phew… I guess we’re kinda busy, aren’t we?

Let’s do it all again next week.

 With gratitude,

Allie
